Rules are NOT made to be broken. Cars are made to be broken.

  1. Vehicles entered for the Scumball should be worth no more than £1000 (that's one thousand UK pounds). If you have any doubts as to whether your vehicle is of an acceptable standard, check with us on the Forum and we'll give you a good idea. As a general guide, if your car is eligible, then you'd accept an offer of £1000 to sell it... We're not oppressive tyrants, though. If you're in the spirit of things and the car is borderline, we'll pass it. Organiser's discretion is final.

  2. Details of the car and modifications can be supplied when you fill in your application form.

  3. Fee includes: Hotel stopover in the UK before departure; Ferry Crossing to/from Europe; Hotel Stops in Europe; 10 laps of the Nürburgring Nordschliefe; Breakfast at all accommodation stops and at least one evening meal. We're still working on other additional features to be included at this point.

  4. Scumball is not a race. We consider it a mobile party. There will be no timing, no prizes for completion within a timescale or ahead of others. There will be no betting or wagers on any part of the event.

  5. Your entry fee covers two people in a car, sharing hotel rooms. If we can only get double rooms after booking all available twin rooms, you will be expected to share a double bed or make alternative sleeping arrangements yourself. At this point, we may be able to cover additional people in a team after agreeing availability and price, but this might be expensive as the accommodation constitutes a large part of the entry fee (single supplements are a bitch, huh?).

  6. Cars may be sponsored, liveried, non-standard and/or driven by nutcases in fancy dress. This is at entrant's discretion and Organisers take no responsibility for the actions and conduct of drivers and passengers. Modified cars are expected to comply with all local laws and regulations, including those of Nürburgring GmbH.

  7. You will be liable for your car, driving licence, additional expenses and anything you damage or break during stopovers and crossings. Scumball does not endorse, nor condone driving under the influence of drink or drugs. We expect entrants to possess some common sense in this matter as we cannot be responsible for your actions.

  8. Cars MUST be road legal. Remember to put stickers on your headlights so you don't blind our European friends on the wrong side of the road and carry your documents with you. The Gendarme have ways of making you walk. Look up the prevailing laws for the countries visited if you are in any doubt.

  9. Put a Fire Extinguisher in the car, bring a helmet if you think you're a Ring-Meister... The Nordschliefe bites, and it's up to you to replace any Armco you damage. It's expensive! (€200 per strip, you may also be billed for vehicle recovery and track closure).

  10. Nürburgring officials have been known to refuse entry to cars if they pose a safety risk on the track. - We cannot be responsible for these 3rd parties, so please, please, please check your car thoroughly for any leaks or mechanical defects that might endanger your chance to get on-track. You would be gutted.

  11. Your entry fee is non-refundable in the event of you breaking down or killing your car... This should be incentive enough for you to make sure you're bringing something roadworthy.
