Date July 10th-15th 2008

Entry Fee: Entries are now closed!

The entry fee covers two people in one standard size car, and includes:

  • All Accomodation
  • Ferry Crossings
  • Some Meals
  • 10 Laps of the Nordschliefe

Arrangements can be made for more passengers, or oversized vehicles.

We will once again be returning to the hallowed tarmac that is the Nürburgring.
This year’s event will take place between the evening of Thursday July 10th 2008 and the afternoon of Tuesday 15th 2008 when we alight the ferry at Dover and head home (that means get off, not torch).

The basic itinerary is as below (see the Previous Events pages for an idea of what might actually happen).

An outline of the Rules is available on, surprisingly, the Basic Rules page.

To join Scumball, see the How To Apply page for details on how to enter.

The Itinerary...

Day 1

We'll be meeting at Nottingham for a briefing, buffet dinner, beer and a good scout round everyone else's Scum-chariots on the Thursday night.

Day 2

Early start. Hopefully straight to Donington Park for a few parade laps (subject to their confirmation at this point), then probably a bit of filming before we head down to Dover to meet and board the ferry. Quick channel-hop before we make our way to a nice hotel near Brussels Airport. Few more drinks, bar meal and get some sleep. Unless you want to sample Brussels fine nightlife, in which case you have our pity!

Day 3

The Nürburgring Nordschliefe is open to the public all weekend, so on Saturday, the hardcore track maniacs can head straight to the 'Ring and get some quality time in. Alternatively, sleep in, stop for lunch on the way to Nürburg, maybe put a few sighting laps in and head to the hotel. The hotel is about 20 minutes from the 'Ring this year (damn Truck GP!)

Day 4

Sunday is dedicated to track time at the 'Ring, use up your 10 lap allowance, then start buying your own if your car is still healthy! We'll also most likely go out for something to eat on Sunday evening. The Pistenklause Restuarant is consistently fantastic every time we're there and they deserve our custom again - Steak Argentina anyone?

Day 5

The 'Ring may be open on the Monday, so the hardcore lappers might get in a few more circuits before they set off. Sometime during the afternoon we’ll all head over the border into France, to Reims. Once there, we can soak up some of the local champagne and have a nice meal of snails and other stereotypical delicacies. We're staying in the city centre, so going out is definitely an option. It's good to see the old pits and grandstand just outside the town too.

Day 6

Tuesday is another easy cruise, back to the Ferry port in plenty of time for some duty-free shopping and a bite to eat before we catch the ferry back to Blighty.
